A one woman show at the Star Brewery Gallery in Lewes featuring brand new work by Gabrielle Lord

Gabrielle will be showing a selection of paintings at this artist-curated show during the summer in Seaford, East Sussex

From the 28th February 2022 the window space at Chalk Gallery will be dedicated to the work of Lewes painter, Gabrielle Lord. Her latest collection of paintings is entitled “In Ecstatic Motion” inspired by the following quote by the poet Rumi; “Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion”, Rumi. Capturing the figure in motion is not for the faint-hearted among artists, and Gabrielle has worked hard at this impressive ability over several years. “Dance has always been important to me. I trained in ballet until I was 19. But from this classical background I found it really hard to ‘free up’. I did some Gabrielle Roth 5 Rhythms and some contemporary classes that I found very liberating, and some tango classes with my husband. I love to watch dancers and skaters. Two or three years ago I made a series where the dancers were set against imagined backdrops, as if they were on stage with dramatic sets.
